If i keep him long enough to introduce him to my dog how should i do it? i am weary to just let them both loose in the back yard because if there is a fight how do i get ahold of them??? I am thinking about keeping my dog on a leash because if there is a problem i can drag him inside....
Any suggestion? |

Id be calling all HS in the area, and then some. Looks like a husky (cross) could have easily wandered miles away from home. Call all vets offices. put up flyers. Put adds online. but be vague "found a white dog at such and such location, call such and such number to identify such dog"

Good advice already, I would add to notify local rescue groups, obedience clubs and/or trainers, dog walkers, and husky breeders, who may have heard about a missing dog. Post flyers at vets, groomers, pet stores, coffee shops...anywhere you can think of! Put flyers in your car windows, people will see them wherever you drive.
More resources: http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-stray.php http://www.fidofinder.com/ http://www.petamberalert.com/ Northern breeds especially are prone to wander, so he could well be far away from his home. I would give it more than a couple of days - there's no telling where the owners are and they might not know about microchips or the best ways to find a lost dog. So many people really have no idea what to do, it's very sad. He might have slipped his collar, so I wouldn't consider his not having a collar as a strike against the owners. My dog has slipped hers before, it can happen to anyone especially if the dog gets spooked by something. Good luck, hope you can locate his family! |

Owner called. Got my number from my found dog report I made with the humane society.
Dog has a history of getting loose and she was keeping him as a trial to see if she could adopt him from her friends. She said the only way they can keep him from escaping is puting a metal chain on his neck. She also said she probably wont be able to keep him since he runs away, so i called the vet where the lady said her son might want him and told her that if he does want the dog they might be looking for a good home for him. Hopefully someone will take him and get him neutered and microchipped(especially since he runs away alot). I am even thinking that if the ladys sons will adopt him, i might offer to pay for half of it. I know its alot for most people to think about adopting a dog and then spending a bunch of money to get him fixed and microchipped but if he can go to a good home and i can help get him in a state where he is safer and not going to produce more puppies i want to do that. Glad the owner is looking for him just wish it was a perfect owner that was going to make some changes to make sure he didnt get out again. Hes the sweetest dog, but I am sure some dogs are worse off and at least I could give him a couple safe days, good food and some attention. |

So glad you found the owner! I hope he ends up in a great place, and is able to be microchipped and otherwise taken care of. He's gorgeous! I really need to have Violet microchipped. She doesn't get out often, but she HAS gotten out, and it scares me to death. She always has id on her collar, but anyone who wanted to steal her could just take it off.

Ya i need to get henderson microchipped too. I think there is no way he will ever get out, but this kind of thing reminds me it can happen. So scary, i am glad i reported it to the humane society and glad the owner checked with them. He definately traveled a good distance to get to me so i am glad he wasnt hit by a car either. Hope he stays safe, he deserves that.

The owner came and got him on saturday. She was nice and i hope they find a good home for him. She said the driving distance was 22 miles from her house to ours! He was a pleasure to have and we were sad to see him go.
Im not sure he was a typical husky, but if he was I can see why people love them. |

Ugh reasons people should not own northern breeds....
I'm sorry its really not that hard to supervise and properly contain your husky people. ![]() Sure do hope he doesn't get hit and die next time he gets out because it sounds very likely he will from how *ahem* responsible the owners sound from their description. Sorry I'm pretty done with owners like this. I stopped having sympathy after the last dead siberian I saw on the sidewalk. |

i totally agree with you. Its scary but i sure hope he makes it. He was so sweet.
While in my back yard he did dig around the fence. Would he have to be in a kennel to contain him? |
