Would you get her a dental or would you just keep doing what I'm doing and try to keep the plaque away? I notice after she eats she gets stuff caught up on the top of those front teeth every time. I've been cleaning that out every day.

It's very, very hard for me to say based on seeing a picture (any picture, not just that one, it's just not the same as seeing it in person), but...

In the picture, it does look to me like there is still a fair amount of visible tartar on her upper premolar (the big one) and a fair amount of inflammation in the gums generally. If what I'm seeing in the picture is how things really are, I would personally do (or recommend) the dental cleaning.

That's definitely looking good for an 8 year old toy breed!

I can't say I blame you for not wanting to put her under again. I'd be scared too.

Normally I'd say dentals are worth it, IMO, because of reasons listed above. All the sprays in the world can't get past the gumline, etc.

But I don't know hard call. Either way she's looking good!

Do you ever brush, or just use spray?

Can you point out the premolar to me? Would her history of seizing when she's put under anesthesia make you change your mind? I'm just so scared that will happen again. Last time they couldn't even do the procedure they were wanting to do because they had to stabilize her and get her to stop seizing. :/

On dentals what do they do other than remove tartar?

I think I need to talk to her vet about the fact she seized when she went under last. That was at a different vet in Texas and I don't think I ever got her records from that vet moved over because I was still doing her shots and such up here in OK over college.

Jackson's mom, she's had petzlife gel for two years and had them brushed. I think it slowed down the tartar buildup but it still obviously built up over time.

The PM4 (Premolar 4) is the last tooth you can see on the top (can't see the very back of it due to her lip).

Yea, the big premolar is the gigantic one on the top in the rear.
