I'm terrified at the idea of having a finger nail or toe nail fall off
![]() I'm not sure WHAT I would do if one of them fell off... I'd probably try to super glue it back on. Haha. Yuck.

A few days before Christmas I was chopping something and my worst nightmare happened....I chopped right into my finger. I got a good gash in my fingernail and it hurt like a SOB for weeks! Nothing happened until a month or two later when the gash was finally growing out and it started seperating from the nail bed. I just kept trimming it so it wouldn't catch on things and it actually grew out pretty quickly once it got closer to the edge. I'm not sure how this story is relevant to yours but since everyone is is telling theres.......
To this day, anytime I cut, Devin always reminds be to be careful not to cut my finger. I have heard her tell my dad that as well when he is chopping food. lol

Is it painful? If so you probably wanna stop it from rubbing against stuff until it heals, maybe with some moleskin. And yeah, I would trim it as far back as you're comfortable with, and let the body do its thing. So far all the stupid stuff I've done to my body has healed naturally .... for the most part :P

Have you trimmed it as short as you can so it doesn't catch on anything? I have to leave soon so I just skimmed the thread, but the last time I really hurt one of my nails I wound up just cutting it almost all the way off and bandaging it up. It grew back in fine, and I didn't have to stress about getting it caught on something and ripping it off.
