Smell Repelent Collar?

Is there any type of collar that doesnt absorb the smell when dog gets a bit well...smelly? I dont like to wash Taina's collars as they are all nylon and get a bit ugly after the wash, but I dont like putting on what in my mind is a dirty collar.

Would leather be a good choice? Or something more wash resistant? Thanks

Leather can be cleaned and conditioned, and it only makes them look better (if you use the right stuff of course). They also don't get stinky and dirty like nylon to begin with. I have a leather collar for Gavroche and a leather harness for Logan and would NEVER go back to nylon. If it's good leather you can use them in water, too.

That said, they wear biothane collars when I plan on them getting nasty and dirty. They wash right up, waterproof, and fairly cheap. The Dublin Dog collars are really cute, though. I just don't like the idea of having something rubber/plastic on my dog all the time.

Exactly how it is here. I clean my tack well. I have hunting dayglo collars for wood runs where Victor will roll on something and they all get wet.

Definitely depends on what your dog does

Even with regular cleaning/conditioning, her leather collar got dirtier and stinkier in 6 months than her nylon collar did in 14 years with just being rinsed once a year when she got her bath.

I use biothane collars from Custom Canine Collars for my dogs' hiking gear and they are fabulous!

They come in every color imaginable lol I have them in royal blue, neon blue, neon green, red & hot pink (like burning your eyes hot pink lol)
