Thank you all for all the great info.

I don't know much about raw. Do folks make their own or buy it? My first reaction to it (most likely because I don't know anything) is to worry about the danger of food borne nasties.

Dogs have the short, tough digestive tract of a carnivore. They cannot get salmonella & other diseases that affect us, because we have long digestive tracts. The only concern with dogs getting it is if they already have a blockage and eat raw meat, that sits in their system for days. Hence why I NEVER feed rawhide (not that I would feed it anyway).

Raw is super healthy & the diet that nature intended for our dogs! I feed my dogs all raw some weeks, sometimes half raw half kibble, and sometimes all kibble. They definitely do best on all raw, but even feeding it as a supplement until you're comfortable is really good for them.
