It may be different at my job, I work at a "Canine Sports Coaching" facility. We do training all the way from puppy class to therapy and comp obed and agility, etc. All of our employes were clients at one point and still are. Hiring clients gives us the ability to see them in action before we hire them and also ensures they are in the right place in our small community network. In this city if you are in a competitive sport you have likely trained with us or at our facility at least a few times, we're the only inside air-conditioned facility.

My girlfriend got a job at the veterinary referral center as a client recently and it's going well. Thank god she got the job, 2 weeks after she signed on her sport dog tore his ccl and found out he has horrific hips to add a cherry on top.

All of my jobs have been through friends/connections, I actually am not sure what I will do if I have to do it in another way. LOL

This is how I landed my job at the agility center I teach at. I was a client for 2+ years first, must have impressed the owner because when she learned that I was wanting to start teaching classes somewhere she offered me a job.

As far as getting "dog" job experience, you can always look at retailers. If there are any pet food specialty stores or even Petsmart or Petco can get your foot in the door. I did my fair share of time at Petsmart and it was very relevant experience to the jobs I hold now.
