Bad dog? She's a freaking very young puppy! I'm beyond baffled. Puppies bark. Puppies growl. Puppies talk back. Puppies give you the stinkeye before stealing your flip-flop to go destroy.

All I can say is that is one stinkingly adorable puppy.

ETA: she looks kinda American Bulldog-ish to me. At that age it's hard to tell, but she gives me that impression.

I won't be of any help...I would not be able to take her back.

Look at that little face

Right? She's acting like any other puppy right now. I think she's going to turn out to be a really awesome dog...but not for me. She's making it hard to say no. She already knows that when we go out she should potty. She took to a crate quite easily. And she's just a smoosh, such a cuddly freaking puppy.

Still, I just can't shake the feeling that the timing is all wrong. Could it all turn out perfectly and not affect Pig's training at all? Sure. But that's not a risk I feel comfortable taking right now. Maybe it would be different if Pig wasn't my first competition prospect, but I just don't want to end up over my head and fail either dog.

So sorry everybody, but I won't be contributing more puppy pics right now.

And yes Miakoda, quite a few of the pups look somewhat like american bulldogs. Maybe the sire was one/had some in him. The pups were actually still nursing when we got them. The mom is still in our medical center, so I haven't seen her personally, but from what I was told she's a smallish pit mix.

I think you have to make the right decision for you. Maybe you can foster her for a little while?

I dunno, as someone whose puppy honeymoon just ended, I think you have to really want the dog to put up with puppyhood.

When I took her home last night I told my manager that I would bring her back around 3pm today with the verdict. Deciding that keeping her would be the wrong thing to do is one thing, actually loading her into the car to bring her back to the shelter was quite another. I did manage to hold my sh*t together while I was actually in the shelter. The ride there and the ride back home were a bit difficult though.

My sister is currently sulking in her room. I basically had to pry the pup out of her arms, so I'm not her favourite person right now. This feels like the right decision though. I can't make any promises that I won't take her in if she gets returned to the shelter again though. Hopefully that won't be happening, she's a fantastic little dog and I'm sure she'll be exactly what someone else needs at this moment.

I took a few more pictures before I brought her back. She certainly is a cute little girl. Definitely not an easy face to resist. I'm gonna miss the little bugger.
