Default Treiball, freestyle, and rally

Who'd have thunk? Lol Three sports I wasn't interested in at all but now that I cannot for the life of me find agility around here, we tried all three today and I surprisingly liked it a lot more than our short venture into flyball! I think it is mostly because of the people training the flyball just didn't click with me.

I honestly didn't know there were different sized balls in treiball and that you could even do it with a dog as small as a papillon. I also thought it would be more of a herding dog thing but it seems like it's just a lot of fancy targeting work. I could see Mia really liking it.

Today I just had summer with me but I'm going to try to bring both next week.

Fun I've been playing around with Treibball with mine for the last couple weeks since a lot of our time during the week is after dark and Mira's been in heat to boot. It's pretty fun

1. I am dying to hear about the treiball class that's supposed to happen at some point this year near me

2. You should totally do UKC rally if you end up going to the Tulsa show I'm thinking I'll be doing rally with Gavroche there in March and rally/confo with Logan in May. So it would be super awesome to compete with you lol.

LOL well we won't be ready at all for competition by then. We did our very very first rally routine today. 1st run was awful. 2nd run was less awful but still not good. xD

I am stoked there's a small dog option for treiball.

You could be ready by May though! Gavroche had his CGC when I started my first rally class, and he was in class for I think 6 weeks before out first show. He got I think 3rd place in his first trial, 2nd in the second trial, and NQ in the third trial :P UKC rally is much more fun than AKC, but it can also be hard to find UKC classes, and the signs are slightly different than AKC.

Oh god, the signs! I had NO idea where to even start on some of them. 2nd run through was probably better just because I knew what the signs meant. Now, she is having some issues with sitting in the right spot. She tends to want to face me all the time.

Treiball looks like such fun. There is a Treiball class going on at the dog daycare I work at every Tuesday right after all my daycare dogs leave. I always stay and watch and it looks like such fun. Someone in the class has an Icelandic Sheepdog doing it and hes already so good.

I would LOVE to try some Freestyle with Kimma sometime! She probably wouldn't like Treiball (though if it's more like "targeting" she might), and she LOVES Rally! We finished her AKC RN in three runs, placing in the second two, without my ever taking a class for it or trying it before.

I think your girls would like most anything you try with them because they seem to like working with you

Do you do UKC? I know they have (had) agility in Tulsa and Norman. [/OT]

Summer and I actually did UKC agility first (just training). It's in OKC but the club is nto answering my emails. My old agility instructor is actually in the rally class so I'm going to ask her for some ideas. I LOVE her training but can't make her schedule and she's not taking on more students. She has another trainer that maybe I could contact. I miss agility even if we only did it for fun. It's been my favorite to train.

Summer has ZERO prey drive and we've got her targeting the ball already. They asked if I wanted to try and I said I doubted she would enjoy it but she's liking it so far. I'm not sure if she'll ever be great but it's fun to play with. The sport is a lot more complicated than I would have imagined.
