I'm not surprised. The difference is that random union members making death threats to state legislators (something that, under the circumstances, would surprise me if it had NOT happened) isn't as much of a story as the Speaker of the Kansas House attempting to bring the wrath of God down on the President. Not to mention that the later is not only menacing, but bizarre.

Although both sides do it, one thing that does seem to be more common on the right wing is relatively prominent figures, including elected officials, spouting this sort of stuff. I have guesses as to why, but it doesn't really matter. Its highly objectionable no matter who is saying it.
