Is raw about to come under fire?

My boss (DVM) is certain that I'm going to get e.coli and salmonella poisoning because I feed my dogs raw. I wonder how she handles her raw meat before cooking it? I'm sure she washes her hands and counter tops afterwards... just as I do.

Thats something else tha frustrates me. What makes handling raw/cleaning after any different when feeding it to your dog vs. preparing it for yourself to cook? Suddenly, for dogs its a much more dangerous thing. Its absolutely no different. But because you feed it to your dog.........

Around here, most people seem to agree with raw feeding and I haven't encountered one person whose opinion I wasn't able to persuade or at least get them to drop the shock of my animals eating raw meat and bones.

In my experience, people are usually more upset about the chicken bone thing as opposed to the whole germs part.

I'm not concerned.

I imagine that it could be a legitimate concern with a person who is severely immunocompromised, but normal people with normally functioning immune systems? I have a hard time getting worked up about it.

I live in the country and most people here have chucked their dog something raw before... Most people are surprised at the idea of no kibble and JUST raw meat, but the only people I've met who've been AGAINST the idea of raw feeding have been in the veterinary profession, and think I should just feed Science Diet instead.
