Default Small cooked bones?

The danger with cooked bones comes from them splintering into shards, right? And this happens through chewing (i.e. bones aren't going to break down into sharp bits in the dog's stomach)?

So if a bit of cooked bone (think thin pork rib) is fed, and the ends of the bone are cut smoothly, and the piece is small enough that the dog swallows it whole, that shouldn't cause a problem... correct?
