United States District Court, Northern District of Iowa, 320 Sixth Street, Third Floor Courtroom, Sioux City, IA Description NOTE: THE 12/28 HEARING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!! Summary: Retired Chicago Police Officer and Vietnam Veteran James Sak and his wife Peggy Leifer are suing the City of Aurelia, Iowa for forcing Sak to relinquish his service dog, "Snickers". If Sak had not relocated Snickers outside of city limits, the Town Council of Aurelia said the service dog would be seized and killed. Animal Farm Foundation is assisting Sak and his family with this case. On December 21 Animal Farm Foundation issued the following press release: http://www.animalfarmfoundation.org/...ServiceDog.pdf. The City of Aurelia's actions appears to violate federal law/Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines: http://www.ada.gov/regs2010/titleII_2010/reg2_2010.html The Davis Brown Law firm (www.davisbrownlaw.com) is representing Sak pro bono, and Animal Farm Foundation is covering any additional costs, including boarding fees for Snickers. The judge ruled in his favor and Snickers is home
 The city can still appeal it, but the legal team that went to bat for Snickers and his people says they will stay on the case if that happens and fight it as far as it needs to be fought.
