Default A silly thing perhaps..

For the past 2 days.......Addie has been in, and when sleeping she makes this loud 'whistling' sound when she breathes (sp?) Now, I know this might sound silly.......but I don't remember ever a time when she did this before.....and it's LOUD. So, is it me being silly, and a worry wart mom.....or is this sudden 'noisey' breathing a sign of something else? She seems ever so wonderful otherwise. Good spirits.......good health. Thanks for all thoughts.

Gotta just love those pups......they are such a joy in my life.

I think it is always good to monitor a difference in your dog..taking note can lead to early detection of problems. Even at the kennels I would do what i call a body i rubbed an ear I would scratch and pet down each dog and if I felt a lump or scab..anything I would now right away instead of just waiting until something was real obvious.I also did a visual sweep of each kennel making sure that the screws that held down the top of the dog houses had not worked up for they could tear a pad or a wire loose that could catch and tear. I am sure that your dog is fine, but at the very least you have noticed something and are on alert incase it sounds worse, or your dog's health seems "off".
When I found that dog skull I was looking at the biggest sinus was hard to wonder they can smell 500 times more than we can. Lots and lots of room in there! Since the sound is only when she sleeps and not running around i would not think there is an obstruction, but that is just my opinion. Cross my fingers she is just a whistler of a sleeping dog. Mary has the nicest little snore...I find it comforting as odd as that sounds.

thanks! This is silly......Hammie snores......LORDY, does he ever snore!! But Addie has never made any 'noise' while sleeping. Suddenly...there is all this 'whistling' and she moans all the time. (now, that could be cause she is happy to be plopping herself in the bed) I guess I just question anything that isn't the 'usual'. She is just now sitting here and smiling...........yes, perhaps I am a worrying mom. you worry so much. I tend to over think things. But, that 'whistling' sound.............sheesh. Dry air, maybe........I know I have a problem with that.

You've probably got something there, Debi. If she's been in the house and the air is dry from the heat she may just have some dried mucus in there that's whistling as the air goes by.
