Does that have anything to do with the 30s movie? That was supposed to be a serious movie. . .but I LOLed.

I've never read the book (didn't even know it was a book), but I can't wait to see that movie! The trailer made me all misty-eyed.

I'm about halfway through The Magician King by Lev Grossman, which is the sequal to The Magicians. If you like fantasy-type novels, these are definitely for you. They've been described as a Harry Potter-meets-Narnia-for-adults, which I think is accurate, with The Magicians being more Harry Potter, and The Magician King being more Narnia.

It is definitely an adult book though - it has some dark subject matter, so it's not suitable for children. I would highly suggest to read The Magicians first, or The Magician King won't make a whole lot of sense. They're both excellent, though! It doesn't really feel like a sequel - it just feels like a smooth continuation of the same story.

Going through another cycle of reading all the Harry Potter books. I'm currently at the beginning of The Deathly Hallows.
I've been reading them since I was 7 and they're kind of like a comfort blanket or something. I have to read the whole series for the 9604378116th time every once in a while.

I don't know what to read next. I'm stuck.

ETA: Patricia Cornwell's book gets released tomorrow so I'll be getting that. But I miss her earlier stuff. It was soooooo much better.

LOL, no but he references it a bit. It's about the American black market economy mainly. Interesting stuff.

Loved the Harry Potter books! I got way behind watching the movies, though - I'll have to do a marathon to catch up.

Just finished a book of short stories by James Ellroy. Is it weird that I fall asleep reading Ellroy? LOL. All that sex and violence makes me sleeeepy.

Since my last post in this thread I've read about another half dozen Shakespeare plays....a few more Chekov plays (loved Uncle Vanya!), Siddhartha, If On A Winter's Night A Traveler (which was just as amazing as Invisible Cities, it was sort of mind-blowingly good)...and I think that's it.

Currently reading Stronghold by Melanie Rawn. It's the 4th book in her Dragonprince series.

Me, too! One of my (many) favorites. I was afraid I was going to be super disappointed by the movie, but it was better than I thought.
