I've fed Fromm for a while now and I luffs it. Very very much. It's also made in the state I currently reside so that gives me a happy too!

This is soooooo popular in the dog food industry. There is only a handful of companies that actually manufacture their own food and don't outsource to a different companies manufacturing plant. It helps them keep their food cost down. Some that come to mind are Precise, Fromm, and Lotus.
(ETA: Lotus actually looked into canneries to make their cans, and they couldn't find anything that they liked standard wise, so they built their own cannery! This makes me wonder what they felt was wrong with all the other canneries)

Fromm as a company has less employees on their payroll than the small company that I work for, which isn't that many! They actually hired someone from another pet food company to work their extruder and he quit after 48 hours. In his exit interview he said that it was just too much work, as they actually require employees to run tests and count times on the extrusions, he was used to just hitting a button and sitting there for 12 hours. So if manufacturing is a big issue for you, you might want to check out Fromm, they have two current grain free formulas (beef frittata, surf and turf) and will have two more (gamebird, salmon tunallini) in the next few months. Amazing company and super reasonable pricing.

Hmm I'm not sure honestly. I currently feed kirkland chicken and rice formula, but I've been wanting to switch foods mainly because Cricket tends to have skin issues a lot and I think it might be an allergy to her food.

We sell THK at my work as well as Fromm, Blue Buffalo Wilderness and Merrick. I get a discount on dog food at my work so I've been looking into these companies, but trying to narrow it down to what exactly I should feed.

Biggest think I'd like to do is grain free and preferably gluten free as well since I think both dogs would benefit. Im not sure what in the kirkland food Cricket might be allergic to. Maybe the chicken? One of my coworkers swears by THK.

There's a good number of companies I trust for dog food... even if they've had a recall or an ingredient issue in the past, I try to look at how they've dealt with it and what has happened since.

Really? I hadn't heard - that is awesome! Any ideas on a release date? Do you know if they're coming out with any additional grain-free cat formulas?

Fromm I called the company to ask a question and even the person on the phone was kind, knowledgable and proud of their product!

and Primal! All the ingredients are high quality, organic and they seem to know whats up!

I don't have a problem trusting Diamond. At all. I am a bit leery of Blue since they had a recent recall. But Diamond has 't had a recall in a long time and appear to have actually learned from it. I don't really trust Evanger's much either after their last recalls but I do feed their canned meats.

I asked their nutritionist about another GF cat, he said they are planning one (I think I peed myself a bit when he said that ).

I'm not sure about release date on the new GF. They weren't in the Backer show books, and the new Nutrisource and Pure Vita ones were, and that is the big place to do a reveal+discounted first shipment it seems. Hopefully within the next few months though!!

Yay! That would be awesome if they came out with another grain-free cat! Surf & Turf is one of the few (decent) foods that Sassy really enjoys - it seems she's getting pickier as she gets older.
