Doggie Door training

Hi,

We installed a doogie door last weekend, we've successfully trained our dog to use it when we're home. However, when we are not home he doesn't know to use it. We've had him for six months and trained him to go on paper right next to the back door. So far, whether or not we leave paper down...he goes inside when we're not home.

Any ideas?

Is he going in the same place every time he goes inside? This is going to sound like an odd question, but is that inside spot where he's used to pottying tile or carpet?
