Resources for Homecooking?

I'm trying to find some more information on homecooking, but it is not coming along at all. I figured I would ask and maybe someone would have some information/websites for me. I'm just interested in reading more about it. Thanks!

I'm obsessed with The Pioneer Woman - I want to cook the Mocha Brownies really bad because they look absolutely delicious! She also posted a Chicken Panini of some sort and I wanted it so bad, lol.

However, I was talking about homecooking for dogs

Wanting to know the same thing. And a general bottom dollar cost to help the neighbor get their dog off of cheap food. So will be checking back in and if I find out anything I will come and share.

You should check out Karen Becker's book, Real Food for Pets. My roommate got it after taking a bunch of flack for switching her dog to raw. It's a raw cook book but, there are several recipes that can be cooked (they use bone meal instead of whole bone). That might help or steer you in the right direction!

Thanks - I'll check that out! Harleigh is on RAW right now, but the place were I get most of my meat just closed down and I have pretty much no where else The closest co-op is about 3hrs away and ordering online is so expensive - especially when I'm a broke college student

Anyways, thought I might take a look into home cooking. I have no clue what it involves, but figured I'd research some. She'll still get RMB's, but I just want to try something else maybe. I really don't know, lol.

Yeah, I know how it goes. I have my meat sources, and if they ever disappeared on me, I'd be screwed.

That said, with the Karen Becker book, I don't know if you would save any money, as the recipes are high meat content and really intended for raw consumption anyway.

Another caveat about that book is that all her recipes are super low fat. Skinless chicken, lean ground beef, etc. She's very VERY concerned with pets being overweight, which I applaud her for, however, I would never feed such a low fat diet. Fat is good for dogs, IMO. We just have to be aware that it's calorie dense. Also, while Macky would be ok, Keeva would be a skeleton, LOL. And from what I've seen of Harleigh, I don't think she needs a low fat diet.

Oh gosh, no she definitely doesn't need low fat! I have a hard enough time keeping weight on her as it is

Right now she's on a bland diet of chicken/rice, the poor girl has a very upset tummy. Her stomach was gurgling so loud this morning that is woke me up... and I am NOT a light sleeper (I seriously think a tornado could come through without me waking up).

I'm going to look into some different pre-made diets, I know they are expensive but I don't have much choice if I want to keep her on some sort of raw (with the exception of some RMB's she'll still get).
