Not that I am suggesting you get a corgi
Actually, my corgi's dam did MAR and tracked all the way up to the door of the house in which the missing animal was being held. No one was home at the time, but the home owners contacted AC the next day with the missing dog.

It's probably just because they're so close to the ground already - LOL.

Sounds perfect! And if she doesn't work out for some reason, you'll already have practice training a dog for MAR when you get another prospect.

Thanks. Now I'm picturing a corgi tracking through Alaska snow.

I wouldn't take a Pit x Akita out tracking animals that are scared and might possibly be fear aggressive, DA, or HA.

Look into well bred, working bred German Shepherds Any dog you look into with a high drive is going to need a lot of activity, training, and mind stimulation off the job, too.

DA and DR are pretty common traits with GSDs too.
