Oh Kat, I fully intended to see an ophthalmologist. That comes after this initial thing with the drops to try and get the pressure down. It is an arm and a leg all right. When the vet told me what it would be, I thought to myself, Oh great....here we go again. You should have seen what my poor, sick Doberman cost me for over a year in managing his liver disease, masticatory myocytis or trigeminal neuropathy and eventually cancer. His care to keep the liver from going completely out of hand...to keep him comfortable and relatively okay, cost me about $700. a month for over a year. There was a nutritionist, special home cooked food, a huge array of suppliments, very costly prescriptions, vet visits/blood draws to check liver enzymes every month, ultra sound, laproscopy, biopsies, blood transfusions, time spent in a high tech, specialty hospital in Seattle. It was thousands. So, I am looking at this eye thing as probable pocket change. Something will be done and that will be that, I expect.

Thanks Bratt and Snark. Yeah, once I find out that something is wrong, I spare no expense to make them well again or whatever the best thing is that can be done. The trouble is, now I can't eat just mac and cheese or Top Ramen because it goes against my new dietary regulations. lol.

Thanks everyone. I'll let you know when I know what is going to happen.

Sorry I missed this earlier -- wanted to chime in with well wishes and to reiterate that you're not a bad dog mom.

Heck, I (think I) watch Bailey like a hawk, and his face ballooned up because he had a broken tooth (which I knew about) that had become infected (which I did not). I felt absolutely horrible, especially since, while the swelling was literally overnight, the infection obviously wasn't. And I'm neurotic about his health. We just miss things sometimes.

I don't know that I would've thought that her fear in Seattle was pain-based. It was a totally new surroundings, big city, etc. Sometimes it's so hard to know what's going on in their heads.

Lots of vibes for both of you.

Thanks Bailey...I don't see how you could have known, since that swelling didn't baloon before and it happened so suddenly. I just wish we could teach them through therapy...(lol) to let their feelings out, to talk about their inner most troubles....that it's no good to bottle everything up inside. LOL. Ahhh...maybe some day through more evolution with us.....
