This was Sadie, our German Shepherd. We got her when I was 10yrs old and she was like *my* dog. We had such an incredible bond. She was amazing with the family but became very territorial when it came to strangers and had turned pretty aggressive. When she was 4yrs old (I was 14) she attacked a workerman who came up to our house unexpectedly and got put down by AC. I came home from my FIRST day of high school in a brand new city and was completely devastated. I cried for days and I still miss her.

I don't have a photo of my first dog, Cleo. She was black lab. I got her when I was 2. (Well, I have pics somewhere, but I don't have access to one right now).

Holly, Lucy, Princess, and Misty were my heart dogs. <3 I miss them all the time.

This was my first pet Domino. The man up the street didn't want her when he found out she couldn't see, so we took her in. I was in grade 2 in elementary, I had her till I graduated high school. She was the best pet and having no sight didn't stop her from doing anything lol

Oh I love this thread!

Okay - I was too young to remember even getting these pets, I was 4 at the time.
But Speck was with us until her teens...Speck is the black/white Dachshund mix, Pandy didn't stay with us long, I am told, and the bird (eating out of the dog bowl)...I forget it's name. Tweety I think. The cat is Thomas Patches.

This was my cat, Fluffy. I always am amazed that my parents can't figure out why I do rescue when we were surrounded with pets from the moment I was born, or even before...


When I was 12, I got a Springer Spaniel, I named her Pepper.
Then one summer a few years later, I raised an owl. We called him Herbert.


Pepper, holding beer can. She always had to have something in her mouth.


This is Pepper, when I'd grown up, moved out and lived in Oregon where I was married to my 1st husband, and had my daughter with him.
Pepper was amazingly tolerant although she'd not been around kids much at all growing up.


She passed away in the winter of 1989. I was so heartbroken. She'd been my best friend through thick and thin including my divorce from my daughter's dad.

This is a wonderful thread! Keep the photos coming! I wish I could find photos of my old dogs who have passed on... makes me sad to think about them. But happy they are in a better place. Thanks for this thread!!!

This is one of my childhood family dogs that I can actually find a picture of.
His name was (LOL) Harley. He was a pretty cool dog, always happy to see everyone.

I didn't have a dog while I was growing up, although I always wanted one.

My grandma had a Westie named Happy who I loved. Whenever I went over to my grandma's house, Happy and I would be inseparable the entire time.
