I just don't understand what these people think they're accomplishing. OK, you sneaked some nasty onto a pretty low-key site. So? This is a big thing? What an empty life you must lead if this, to you, is a big deal.

We do stop a lot more than gets through. It's getting better from our perspective. The bots/spammers are getting "smarter", though and the filters need to be constantly updated. As Renee said, it's on the list. Stay tuned.....

i am a mod at another site we dont get quite so much spammer traffic and i hate how they will just completely fill all the forum subjects with that crap
i would be willing to help i am on here several times a day

I'm a mod on another forum and we don't get nearly the amount of spam this place does. In the 6 months or so I've been a mod, we've had maybe two spam posts. And they actually were related to the board's subject. But we have super-heavy-duty spam filters because there was a porn attack once upon a time, and the people there are much more sensitive to this sort of thing - triggered a LOT of people.

Again, it's a filter thing. The way to combat it is not to have to recruit members to just sit there and use the ban hammer

I'm not one to normally complain about the behind-the-scenes admin stuff, but it does not take weeks and weeks to install something like this, or something like this.

We use the first one with great success on another forum I moderate, and it would be perfect for most of the spam we receive on here. Can something like this be implemented, at least temporarily? We're a dog forum, we attract kids. I don't like the pornographic spam I see on here, and the spam in general is ridiculously off the hook on this forum.

I'm not really sure what the bog down is right now. I've passed it on. The guy working on it for us has been doing it in stolen moments. Evidently there was a lot of infrastructure type stuff that really needed attention badly before anything else
