that's so funny. I think that person is right.. the dog was playing but the deer looked like it was fighting... but fighting over what? it's quite a young deer it looks like so it's not protecting young. and it got "Away" from the dog but came back lol
either way that dog is like YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. It's funny when he tries to grab the deer by the neck and she tells him no and he lets go... I can just imagine he's thinking "aww come on ma just ONE taste?"

I think deer play as well as fight with their legs and hoofs in the air. They did on Rudolph the rednose reindeer at least.
But at times it does appear that the deer might be protecting itself. |

I just don't understand why it came BACK when it got out of that little square inlet. That dog was hilarious though. He was so happy lol what a big goofball.

I think you have made my day.
That is very cute. I honestly thought the deer was playing but I don't know that much about deer. I wonder if it is a wild deer or a young 'foster' deer? I loved the deer zoomies lol. I thought it was great that the dog stopped play biting the deer when the owner said to, that would be my worry, the dog accidentally hurting the deer. The other week I saw a video of a twin moose (calves?) playing in a backyard sprinkler. And mum was there too. I must be such a sap because I could've watched it all day. Awwww. |

I've seen deer play that way with each other. I have no doubt the young deer was joining in to play. It was great how the dog settled down at the first word from the owner so he wouldn't nip. Of course, deer don't play by biting like dogs do. The only similar play signals that appeared to be mutual with the dog and the deer were the flailing with the legs. The dog did less of that, but still...I think they understood each other and played well together. If the deer had been afraid, you wouldn't think he'd keep coming back for more. He just didn't look afraid to me.
Anyhow, that was an amazing video...very cute. Thanks for sharing.

No he didn't look afraid at all... he looked pissed off lol.
he really NAILED the dog on the head at one point and the dog wasn't too happy about it lol but then he grabbed the ball again and went nuts. but you could just hear the thump lol that deer was quite young though so he could have been playing and just didn't know his own strength lol but there were times where he looked ticked off I loved how the dog just wouldn't give up that ball like the deer was gonna chase him to get the ball and the deer couldn't have cared less about a stupid ball
