I much prefer the look of BYB chihuahuas. I don't like the big eyes and the dome shape of the "correct" type. The elongated noses are much more appealing, to me.

luce is 45 lbs, mushroom is 55 lbs, and both are BYB shelter dogs. actually there are a lot of really nice, correct-sized pits in the shelter here (harrisburg, pa). some oversized ones as well of course.
When I was working with rescues in PA there were very few oversized pits, most were nice looking smaller, muscled dogs.

I prefer the look of BYB Goldens. I am NOT a Golden person by ANY stretch of the imagination, but I like the byb variety of colors better.

Ahh, see I'm thinking of the ones that advertise - "extra big heads!" and all that. Most of our stray pits (I worked at an SPCA here in PA, too) were relatively small. But good god - the ones that people paid money for that they then surrendered?!

i think in some cases the reckless breeding practices of the BYBer brings older genes to the forefront. for example danes, almost the only place i've seen the broad chested blockheaded tight skinned original working style of dane is BYBs. most well bred american danes are too narrow chested w/ rectangular heads that are less efficient for the breeds original function. most european stock looks like a mix of english & show quality neo mastiffs and is too heavy for the running involved in actual hunting.
BYBs breed anything w/ papers (sometimes not even that) so alot of older genes that are suppressed in "good" breeding programs get expressed by BYBs. honestly i hate to say it, but i'm okay w/ that to a degree.
