Is it possible for a dog to have SA from just one person even if there are other people in the house? My JRT goes to the toilet in his crate when my dad puts him in there when I am away for the weekend at agility.
My dad just thinks he is a pest but he never does it when I am there and I am usually the one who looks after him. His crate is in my room so perhaps it is just that he is being ignored. My dad and he are getting a increasingly bad relationship and I want this to stop now before it gets worse. He is only left in his crate for 15 mins to eat or put there at night. Does anyone have any reason why he might do this and any way to sort it out. Thanks |

He's stressed out. It is probably because you're not there and your Dad and he don't have a good relationship. I'd have a heart to heart talk with your Dad and see if he won't get more involved in a loving way with your dog...maybe feed him more regularly, be the one to play with him or teach him a trick a lot of the time. Your Dad and other family members need to be on the same page with you and your dog. It is definitely possible and probable that dogs frequently stress when their main person is gone. Some dogs are more "one man dogs" than others. But this can be modified a little bit....if your Dad will work on a better bond between them.
