ID this dutch breed

I met this gorgeous doggy while i was in Holland but although i asked the guy what breed it was i couldn't really make him out (strong accent! lol)
I asked if it was a small munsterlander or something and he says the munsterlanders are german, and that his dog was the dutch equivalent.. or something along those lines! He might have said something that sounded like 'Drente' or something... or i could be talking crap!

So it is definitely a ducth breed, as i even saw pictures of them in 'dutch breeds' calender in a pet shop that same day.

I think that is a Drentsche Patrijshond or Dutch Partridge Hound. Very cute.

ETA: Gosh I'm really liking some of these gundog breeds like kooikers, musterlanders, and stabys and now these guys. They're all gorgeous and totally my type of dog.

Yes, Laur, this one is basically a really, really big and tall spaniel. I like them too. I only found one breeder in the US though, in a quick search, and they had their last litter in 2005. Time to go to the Netherlands, perhaps?

Maybe! Other than tollers the only gundog breeds I really like aren't found often in the US unfortunately. Spaniels are really growing on me lately.

Aww i love stabyhounds too Laurelin, very cute! Although i reckon everyone you'd meet at the park if you had one would think its a wee springer or something!
