Saje, you haven't missed any fun, let me tell you. They do have a period; they drip droplets of blood for about five to ten days. They also have PMS. They whine, they're clingy, they're moody, they'll even get snappy with the other dogs, they can't be still, they're miserable and aren't satisfied until everyone around them is miserable - and they're STILL not content.

Hmmm. How come I've never seen blood with any of my 3 unspayed cats? My BF said he had a little chihuahua that use to shake her hind end and splatter blood all over. That would be messy! I've never seen blood with my horses either.
They do get serious mood changes though. Not the bunnies, bunnies cycle differently, but the cats and horses are very obvious when they are in heat. Interesting

Cats I don't know about. I've never had a female cat, but I've heard they're nightmares to have to deal with when they're in heat.

Yes cats do have period too. My homeless cat outside has period. I found out because I found spots on our concrete floor (backyard) and I couldn't figure it out where it came from. Then it hit me, it was the homeless cat.

Well, I have three unspayed cats and they never bleed, unless they immediately lick it. <blek>
They are very loud, Renee. I'm used to it, now. I intend on getting them spayed but I have 7 animals that need to be fixed and Mikey is the priority.
