Default NADAC, anyone?

Our club puts on a NADAC trial every year, which I've never entered because...well, I do USDAA and CPE, and didn't feel the need to add another one to the list. But since I'm trying to tighten the budget a bit, I figure maybe I should give it a whirl. It's one of only 3 trials available to me that I don't need a hotel for.

Class help please?
I assume jumpers is just jumpers (any tunnels or weaves?)?

Regular is standard (which I know doesn't include all the equipment I'm used to)

Tunnelers is just tunnels? I think.

Weavers - is that just weaves? That would kind of rock.

Hoopers - I watched that one last year. Sort of confused the heck out of me, and I'm not sure what Meg will think of hoops. She certainly has never seen them? Can anyone clear up the way the game works?

Touch N go? No idea.

Chances?

Anything else I should know? I assume I start her in Novice regardless of any titles in other venues? How to titles work in NADAC?

Jumpers = jumps and some tunnels
Tunnelers = only tunnels
Weavers = tunnels, hoops, and weaves
Touch N Go = contacts, tunnels, and hoops
Chances = kinda like jackpot.. you have distance, directional and discrimination "obstacles"
Hoops = just hoops

For titles.. I think its like a point thing.. you get certain amt of points for a Q and that would = a title. Hope this helped.. we hope to try NADAC at some point.

North American Dog Agility Council, Inc. (NADAC) If you wanted more info..

NADAC rocks!

Mer got the gist of it.

You can run proficient (your regular jump height) or skilled (jump height lower) in novice and open and earn the same titles (example, my Buzz runs as a skilled veteran meaning he jumps 12" and earns all the same titles, though he places in a different class).

I cannot explain hoopers, sorry! I haven't played it in over a year because I can't understand it, and I get all of the other classes!!!

NADAC's titles are the same, yet different, from a lot of venues. Each title requires 3 Q's worth 10 points (if you run proficient, you can only get 10 point Qs, skilled you can get 10 or 5 point Qs). An NAC (Novice Agility Certificate, aka regular/standard) requires 30 points. Same for all classes.

NADAC has other awards too, but those are a lot more complicated to explain.

As my user title says... we are NADAC addicts (ok, except for hoopers).

Ugh, there are hoops in a lot of classes, huh? I was hoping it would be just the hoopers class, and I could just can that one. NADAC is probably the least common of the four venues I've seen in the area (USDAA, CPE and AKC being the others); I'm not sure I can even find someone with one to train on first.

Perhaps I need to suck it up and pay for the motel that weekend to go to USDAA.

I love that NOBODY understands hoopers. A few friends competed at the trial last year, and we all just assumed it would be a jumpers course, but with hoops. We couldn't find a single person who could explain the class to us.

Love, love, love NADAC. It is my choice of agility venue. I haven't competed since they started putting hoops in classes outside of hoopers, though. I'm afraid that if they are actually putting many hoops in classes other than hoopers, it'd slowly decline as my favorite venue and then I'd be completely lost as I've tried and not fell in love with any other venue.

They're not bad in other classes. My dogs see them as a jump with no bar, hah. We've never had an issue with it.

As for the class, I think they're in phase 3 now which means it's sorta like 'multi-gamblers' where you do a set number of hoops, then a handling challenge, then another set number of hoops and another handling challenge, and once again...

The handling challenges are directional changes typically, but no distance line, so easier.

NADAC really is cool, don't let the Hoopers class discourage you!

I love NADAC!

Rosco has never had a problem with hoops, I took him thru one once before his run and he did them perfectly. Hoopers can be in all the classes MericoX said but in my experence they arent, I have only seen them used one time in reg and changes.

For titles a clean run = a Q you need 3 Qs to title and yes you start in novice, once earning your novice title in say jumpers then you go in open jumpers but if you havent gotten say your novice changes title yet you still have to enter novice.
