Default Sleeping Arraingments

I have let my 4 year old dog sleep in bed next to me for her whole life- mistake since now I am sharing a bed with someone, and three is definitely a crowd.Any suggestions on how to train her to sleep in a dog bed without making her feel like she is being punished? Anyone else dealing with this sort of situation? Thanks

Get her a lovely, nice, comfy warm bed (you might take her to the pet store with you when you buy it) and get her something she really likes; a good bone, favorite toy, etc. and an old T-shirt or something of that sort with plenty of your scent on it to put in the bed. Set the bed in your room in a spot that's not drafty, preferably where she can see you, get her into her bed with the shirt, pet her, praise her and give her the special treat. She'll try getting into bed with you a few times, but just make her go get back in her own bed, tell her she's a good dog when she does, and you shouldn't have too much trouble. It will take patience, but she'll get to the point where she prefers being in her own bed. Just don't ever send her to bed as punishment. Her bed needs to be a sanctuary for her where she can always go to be quiet.
