Default He knows its wrong but still poops in the house.

My 8th month old dog still isn't full housebroken. He knows its wrong to go inside the house but he still does regardless. About 90% of the time he goes outside, but once or twice a week he just decides to poop in the house. Usually he does so secretly. He knows its wrong but he's not going outside. I dont know what I'm doing wrong. Everytime he goes potty outside I give him a reward. What should I do?

Where are you when he is doing it?

I have an 8 month old puppy and he is on a strict pooping schedule! We eat in the morning and go for a walk a little after that. Well, he doesn't get to walk unless he poops. The same happens again in the evening.

When I am not home during the day, he is crated. He doesn't poop during lunch, just puddles. If we go to the park at night, sometimes he'll poop a third time but most days its just twice.

Dogs don't understand right and wrong. If you aren't around and he has to go, then he just goes. He hasn't learned to wait, and that is something that can easily be fixed with crating.

He doesn't "know it's wrong". Dogs don't do bad behaviors out of spite. It's very possible that he knows that when he poops in front of you, he's going to get in trouble, which is why he likes to hide to poop in the house.

If he's usually pooping secretely, then don't give him the opportunity to hide. Keep him in your sight or close to you at all times. If you can keep track of when he poops in the house - what time of day - that would help too, so you will know better when he needs to go outside.

Yup a schedule of feeding and pooping are awesome! And keeping a close eye on his business / how often / when he did the last time and what he does in the house is a good one too. Keep your eye open and you will see signs before he goes to hide.
