The only time I've used science diet was when Bailey was put on z/d and once afterwards bc one of his med problems was not present when I adopted him and that's what he was on. It did nothing, and he's no longer on it.
You can get something with much better ingredients for the same price. |

Agreeing with everything already said here. It is overpriced and a pretty poor quality product. Petco/Petsmart don't carry very many good brands of food so it can be hard to find a good food.
20 years ago it was one of the better pet foods around, back when there wasn't much of anything available. Now there are new companies surpassing it in price and quality right and left. |

....Dekka stole what I was going to say.
Hills products are not allowed in my house - I had too many problems with the cats on them.

I agree with all of the above. Science Diet is waaay overpriced. Just check out the ingredient list (I cut out the additives for the sake of brevity). Keep in mind that ingredients are listed in order from greatest to least. Corn meal and ground sorghum, yummy yum yum!

Not a big fan of SD. Ive read somewhere that Science diet is only recommended by vets because of kickbacks... Duh.

Yeah, many many vets are paid to endorse the product. Science Diet kind of has a stranglehold on them.
I was told that when pet food first appeared on the market, they were one of the few out there and of course SD was much better than the table scraps that most dogs got. So it used to be a good kibble until people learned more about what good food really was. Now they're just outdated and need to change their recipe but they're relying on a reputation that they've had for a long time. |
