What breeds would you never own?

I said I would never own a poodle, but I love playing with other people's poodles. For me it's not whether I like them or not. Its how well they would fit into my life. (actually a minature poodle could fit in well if I was into grooming)

This thread is interesting in a lot of sterotypes people have about breeds (for good and bad)

For example I know many tollers that quite DR. I know many small dogs who are not in the least bit yappy. (I own a few and one that is def yappy)

Over all it is a great thing there are all these dogs to choose from

These treads always surprise me for 2 reasons -

1) When you're a dog lover (everyone who's answered this thread) dogs that you would never own may one day surprise you and may even change your mind. That's what happened to me. Up until 20 years ago, I had only trained and would only own a large breed with a ton of drive. I now own a dog that weighs less than 1.5 lbs. and love her to death, and 4 of my 5 are under 10 lbs.

2) For some reason I find it hard to swallow when someone can't simply say that a breed just isn't for them and instead find it necessary to say something cruel like...*insert breed* is ugly. We all love our dogs, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I know, but can't people just be a little kinder???

Very true... I met a mexican hairless. He was sooo different looking-and did feel strange to pet. He was a top top agility dog in his day and had a really fun personality. I enjoyed hanging out with him. His owner told me lots of people come up to her and tell her that her dog is ugly.

Why do people do that?

This kind of goes with this thread, hopefully it's not hijacking it.

Having poodles I'm used to people having a negative perception of them and I wondered if it was due to the way I'm grooming them. They do look very much poodley and I don't mind it I love it that way.

I decided to try some little experiment with Boomer and started clipping him totally different. I have him in a terrier trim with a full face and saved ears. It's funny how many people are now commenting on him...how the clip appeals to the general public. I even had a client today say she was surprised that he was pure poodle...she thought for sure he had a mix in him.

It's nice being a groomer and having fun like this! lol

I was never a fan....until this little Am. hairless terrier came into class. I could have taken him home for sure. He felt like a hot water bottle and had a ton of personality!

while I love watching a good looking GSD I would never want to own one. The same is true of most of the herding group. I love watching them work, they are utterly amazing, but just not my cup of tea.

I love hunting dogs, but will never, ever again own another beagle. Mine is a total creep of a dog and I now understand why my father always said they belonged outside! UGH

I am also not a huge fan of bully breeds. My aunt used to breed pits years ago and they were the most amazingly sweet, gentle creatures, but again, not my cup of tea.

Just because I'm seriously obsessive, I have to point out that danes actually are mastiffs. German Mastiffs to be exact.

I really dislike the smush-face breeds.. Pugs, Bulldogs, Boston's.. Small breeds generally don't appeal to me, I like them and other people that have them! But not for me.

I don't like the look of Poodles, and I don't like the look of most spaniels(except a small few). I don't like the corded breeds very much.

I love Labs & Goldens, but I'd never own one(I think..lol).

I dislike terriers, at least all that I can think of ATM. They are sweet and some are really really cute, but not not for me!

You know so far there isn't a breed I dislike, I was trying to think if there were any. There are individuals I don't like (even in my fave breeds).
