Chewing Problem

So recently, I've decided to leave charby locked up in my room when I leave instead of in a crate. He did fine the first few times, but the past couple of times, he started to chew up the bottom of the door. He never chews up any other furniture, just this one door when I leave him alone. There's enough chew toys in the room for him, and I've tried blocking the door. Any other suggestions?

How old is he and how many hours is he left alone?

He's 7 months and usually left for 5 hours at the most. But today he was only left for 3 hours and started to chew.

I'd say if he's happy in the crate , then crate him , I never crated , but Ollie was rehomed because of chewing issues . Mostly paper , pens and anything interesting ! He was happy in a crate , so I got one . I'm sure he'd be OK now ( have had him 2 years ,) but when he knows Im going out and he can't go , he goes into his cage on his own . He never barks and is laying down when I get home . So basically I cage for peace of mind .

He's still very young to be left in a room unsupervised. I would go back to a crate or a outside fenced area until he is a little more mature (around 18 months to 3 years, depending on the dog and how much exercise he gets).
