That is something I have been wondering about myself. It has been recommended to me to feed eggs and raw chicken. I wonder if dogs dont get salmonella. Coyotes and foxes do pretty well keeping chicken population in control around here . It doesnt seem to bother them. I have had salmonella and you have to get better to die.

Dogs are scavengers by nature - furry buzzards, if you will. I'd say there may be instances of salmonella, particularly in the more modern, engineered breeds, but I can't say that I've ever heard of it. I'm betting we can find some info out there on the net though.

The chances of a dog getting salmonella are exceptionally rare, only if the dog is already in a weakened state already. Dog's digestive tracts are much shorter than ours so bacteria has little chance to colonize in the intestinal tract like it can in ours. Also their digestive juices are much more concentrated than ours are so they are a lot stronger and able to kill e-coli, salmonella and the likes.
