Eagle Pack and Protein?

I was reading through other threads about Eagle Pack and other various food things, and I came across Chewbecca's post expressing concern about Eagle Pack having low protein content. (Thread is here: http://chazhound.com/forums/showthre...ght=eagle+pack)

The EP Holistic puppy chow has 23% protein. Is that appropriate? What protein content should be my target? How I gauge the amount of protein that should be in food? Should I supplement?

I have hardly accomplished ANYTHING at work today because I've been researching this. And I apologize for asking question after question about EP and food in general. I just want to be sure I'm doing the best I can for my pup!

I like over 35%. Kibble is a dehydrated meal, so should be highly concentrated.

Since the insoluble fiber incident 2 years ago where they changed their formula and goofed.. and I got 2 months of soupy poop, and they didn't seem to care.. I won't touch them as a company. I now feed higher protein than that anyhow.

That is the issue I'm having with Canidae right now... not "soupy" perse, but poops are pretty soft. Not quite diarrea, but still doesn't seem good.

Now I am freaking out that I've done something horribly wrong. Now that I've already bought the bag, I have received two responses discouraging EP. The bag is already open, too, so I can't return it.

I really thought I was doing the right thing...

Hopefully, it solves the poop issue. If not, I'll go back to Canidae. Between the two... there is only a difference of 1% protein anyways, so it looks like if it is supposed to be higher I am going to need to supplement it anyways. I don't know now.

All I know is that Honey has been on EP Holistic Lamb and Rice for the last year and she poops little hard rockets LOL

Hmmm... I think I have to be scared of anything that poops "rockets". LOL!

We'll see if this makes a difference for Morgan, though.

You're NOT a bad mom for getting the EP. Just try it with him, and if he does well on it he does well, and if he doesn't you can grab a bag of something else when this bag runs out! Don't get yourself in a frenzy over this... it's probably not a big deal at all!

I was in a general state of panic this morning, and after some time to think and cool down during the day I really did come to that conclusion that I didn't really do anything wrong. It will work, or it won't... and if it doesn't we can fix it then. This morning while I was getting ready for work it was just one of those days when nothing was going right and then reading criticisms about EP being "bad" just broke me down for some reason. I was just a mess in general this morning.
