Just picked up Puppy whisperer and How to Raise a Dog You can Live With. Are there any hound specific training books? I've been reading posts on this forum, and many say that training a hound often requires non conventional methods. Most training books I have come across while searching online pertain to hunting. Are there any tips?

What are you trying to train your hound to do? If it's just household obedience, I've found that for a hound's special training needs, clicker training is a great approach. Try the Power of Positive Dog Training by Pat Miller.

For hounds, especially sight hounds but these techniques are geared towards all dogs.
Playtraining your dog by Patricia Burnham.

Don't know about hounds, but a great book that I suggest a lot for beginners is "Outwitting Dogs" by Terry Ryan.
