There are so many people only doing the cross for the profit from the pups it would be interesting to see if anyone is truly trying to develop them as a "breed"??

For the reason you stated (Doodle to Doodle fails) they are not able to as of yet. They need to make a standard body and temperament as well as coat type and start breeding for it, then they will have my respect. As of now it's just people breeding to make more dogs for no other reason than to have more.
