Just browsing through siberian husky kennels, and the difference between Swedish and American is astounding.

I prefer the Swedish. They look like they could transfer from the show ring to the sled.

I like the american ones better. but thats only because im only in it for the looks! the coat looks prettier and fuller lol and those pups at the top of the page are just too cute for words

The Swedish Siberian Huskies look more like wild wolves. They probably make better working dogs and have more stamina.

The swedish ones definatly look ready to work.. But the americans seem more equipped for harsh weather , and in the sled dog world, thats a major priority.. lol

The Swedish ones would do fine it almost all harsh weather. Its the density and texture of the coat as much as how much coat the dogs have. You do not need to be fluffy to handle some pretty bad conditions.

Look at the Alaskan Husky. Those are running/winning most of the long sled dog races and they have less coat than either of the linked Huskies. Some might get a coat though, while camping in the coldest weather.

Interesting dogs. If that's what european sibes look like, then I can see how the "utonogans" in england can get so wolfy looking compared to american sibe/gsd blends.

My girls all american and looks like the swedish. I think the american site had some plain fat,out of shape dogs on it.

I thought the same thing. I do, however, see a difference between the Swedish and American Sibes besides the weight.

After looking at those pics I kinda wonder if its just that we present ours a bit differently to. I know a couple huskys who look just like my girl but get them ready for a show and they fluff that hair up and it makes them look bigger and way fluffier than they are lounging around at home.

Our contact through the rescue does all husky work and there is a difference in coats just outta the dogs he gets in.

I'd be interested to actually feel the coat on the swedish ones.

If only there was a husky that didn't shed Thats when you've really got me interested!
