Would your dog protect you?

Chochi would, I believe. He hates strangers with a passion, but I do believe if one was attacking me he'd jump in. One time, my sisters friend burst through the door without knocking, catching us all unaware.( long story why the door was unlocked at the time) Chochi spring into action. He ran up to her, stood up on his hind legs, placed his front paws on her shoulders and barked in her face. I am so glad he didn't bite her. He guess he was warning her not to come closer to us. He is a chow mix, but thank god he didn't bite her!

So do you believe your dog would protect you?

Buddy: "HAAAIII! Here's my ball, wanna play? I'll teach you how to throw it". So uh, no I don't think he would. I have, however, underestimated my dogs before, and I could be wrong.

Banzai: Yes. He's made moves to do it before and I have no doubt that he would do it again.

My past dog, Alaska, did. Someone was tickling me at my house, and Alaska started snarling and barking because I was screaming and then he started mouthing, which caused everything to stop, LOL and then Alaska pinned me down and started licking my face like he was oh so very thankful I was okay.

Molly definetly wouldn't. She'd just run away with her tail between her legs. Elly definetly would. She'd rip into the person with no hesitiation. Georgia would be really loud about it, maybe grab onto a pant leg and then jump away, but all together, I don't think she would. Bailey definetly wouldn't. He loves lying in front of the house and greeting any stranger. He loves anybody, and would lick the person that was assaulting, not bite. Oliver most DEFINETLY would. He barks and growls at anything who comes to the door and lunges anyone he doesn't feel comfortable with. If someone broke in or something, that person either be out of dead.

So, overall, Elly and Oliver would protect to their life's end, Georgia MIGHT, but that's it out of my five, :P

Hannah has protected before (in a real threat situation, someone was actually trying to hurt me) and I know she would do it again in less than a heartbeat.

I've not been in one of those situations with Corvus, but I'm willing to wager that he would if the situation presented itself.

My dogs are big easy going giants but already proven themselves if needed they would protect.. I have no doubt...

Thunder & Juno would, without a doubt. Thunder has done it before and I know he'd do it again. Juno loves absolutely everyone, but one day we were in the yard and surprised by someone and she started to growl at them.

The rest of them, I really doubt it. They make friends with everyone right away.

To ME, the question is, would I be able to protect my dog. I see that as my ultimate responsibility to her.

I think it's nice that some people do protection work with their dogs, but in general, I would never want my dog to be afraid of or aggressive with strangers. About 99.999% of people we ever encounter with our dogs are perfectly friendly, and I would not want my dog to be uncomfortable around them. I think that a dog itself is a deterrent toward most dangerous people - they're usually looking for easy targets, and even a barking dog would deter those people. My dog barks when someone pulls into the driveway or walks up to the house, no one has ever come to the house and caught her unaware.

No way would Dance protect me from anything. She'll growl a lot at somebody, only because of her own irrational fear of people, but that's about as far as it'd go I think.

Keira, I'm 98% sure she would. She's never shown any signs of protecting us, but there's never been an event to cause her to and she's still pretty young.

Trey would. Summer will make the biggest racket you've ever heard when she perceives a threat but then she will lather them with kisses. The others? Ha, no!

Shack, though, was a very protective dog.
