Default Dog food problem...

Well, my dog (Charlie) usually eats his food with a raw egg in it, but recently he isn't eating anything. He would eat his food while I'm in the garage but when I go back in there to take him outside, it turns out he hadn't eaten anything. Like this morning, he started eating his food without the egg and then I decided he didn't need it today but then he didn't eat anything. I'm starting to get worried. I'm wondering if there is anything that might trigger this.

Your dog is really cute! And yes, the avatar and the signature is pictures of CHarlie.

The Dog food Brand is Purina One Lamb & Rice Formula. (It's Adult Dog)

Maybe Charlie's been reading in the Food Forum while you're not watching, lol! Seriously, Purina - no matter what kind of label they've put on the bag - is some of the worst stuff you can put in a dog's dish.

You do need to rule out any organic problems or diseases, but in the meantime, check into putting him on a better diet. When you switch to a healthy food don't worry about switching gradually. Just make the change. Charley may have some loose stools for a bit, but that's just his body throwing off the toxic waste that's been building up. You can give him a spoonful of canned pumpkin everyday for a few days - not pumpkin pie filling - to firm things up. in the meantime.

Sometimes dogs' appetites decrease as the summer heat sets in, but it's definitely important to be vigilant about him getting proper nutrition. Also, I've read books that say that it's not unusual for dogs to only eat when their owners are around, part of the 'pack dynamics', eating is a big bonding thing for them. The book was The Latchkey Dog by Jodi Anderson, she explained it much better than me. It may not be the issue, just thought I'd toss the idea in here, though.
