So Ripley loves Greenies. I think he'd turn down anything in favor of a greenie. I stopped feeding them after awhile of hearing about how difficult they are to digest, but I'm wondering if they're safer now that the formula has changed?
I'd be giddy if he could have them again, I've yet to find a suitable replacement. He just doesn't like anything but greenies.

I know Hannah loves them too but they are so darn expensive that the only time she gets one is if it comes free in the mail! I used to buy them years ago but the dogs devoured them and it just was too costly to keep feeding them. How often do you feed them?

Ripley used to get 1 every week or so. It would last him a few days, then he'd go a few days with other treats.
I actually bought them in bulk on ebay, so a box of them was about $75 and lasted close to a year.

I never tried them for Tosca. I figure she won't miss what she hasn't tried.

Sophie swallowed a very large piece of one right in front of me and finally threw it up 3 days later totally intact. Since her stools seemed normal and she didn't appear to be sick in any way I had assumed that she digested it.
The Vet said that she could have died, I brought it to them to show them when she finally tossed it back up. It was huge, stunk to high heaven and none of us could believe that it didn't look any different than when it was swallowed. They kept it to show other clients the dangers of greenies. From what I understand, they're less dangerous but worse for them ingredients wise. I give my dogs the Zukes Ridges and they do completely digest. As with all ingestable bones/chewies, they can be a choking hazzard so I always supervise.

![]() By the way, the new Greenies are chewy. I never fed one of the old ones but I believe they were harder? Herschel polished off a new one within 5 minutes. It came free in the mail, but I would never buy them. |
