Question Barefoot running lawsuits - no benefits shown.

Was looking to buy some vibrams (thinking they might be cheaper in winter ha) and found a few articles on lawsuits against them. Eg:

http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Barefoot-Running-Shoe-Lawsuits

Both Vibram and Adidas have been named in lawsuits alleging the marketing claims tor their shoes are misleading. Among other things, plaintiffs allege that there are no well-designed scientific studies that support the claims. Lawsuits also allege that the shoes may increase injury risk as compared to running in conventional running shoes, and even when compared to running barefoot. According to one complaint filed by a purchaser of adiPure trainers, months of use led to foot pain that turned out to be a compound fracture. That plaintiff alleges he and other consumers were never warned about the potential hazards posed by in Adidas adiPure trainer shoes.

A lawsuit has been filed against Vibram FiveFingers, the company at the forefront the barefoot running trend, accusing the footwear manufacturer of making deceptive claims and possibly causing increased injuries.
According to the suit filed by Ali Savafi in Los Angeles on July 9, Vibram falsely claims that its toe-fitting, patented-sole footwear, which features only minimal padding, ‘improves posture and foot health, reduces risk of injury, strengthens muscles in feet and lower legs and promotes spine alignment.’
Savafi bought a pair of Vibram sneakers last July for $92.86 after allegedly reading ‘deceptive and misleading health benefit claims’ about the shoe, ABC Newsreported.

I still want some....

Can't fix stupid...

Of course you have to be careful. Minimalist shoes are like any other piece of athletic equipment. Use your brain. You should still get some, Dizzy!

Some people just want an easy payday, IMO, and will sue over anything.
