Anybody drink them on a regular basis?
When I get home I am going to attempt to go gluten free/"clean eating" esque and I'm trying to prepare because I really need to not fail miserably at it, lol. I adore smoothies and I would really like to be able to incorporate more veggies into that, since veggies are by far my hardest food group to consume. I have been finding a lot of fruit and spinach/celery smoothie recipes that I want to try, but I'd love to hear some recipes if you guys have any to share! Also, a lot of these recipes seem huge, but sound like they are supposed to be one meals worth? For example: 1 grapefruit, 1 mango, 1 orange, 2 cups spinach, water. That is a lot of food! Lol |

Smoothies are a staple of my diet lol. I've never used a recipe...i just throw fruits, veggies, maye yogurt or juice, etc into a blender. Cucumbers, radish, spinach, kale, collards, turnips, etc....a lot of greens an be purchased frozen on sale for a pittance and used as needed.

I drink a smoothie as a meal every 3 days or so. I eyeball it, and don't stray on recipes so this is the only one I drink:
Green monster: cup-cup & 1/2 of frozen mixed berries 1 banana 1 dollop of peanut butter big handful of spinach, sometimes kale. protein powder if i have any 1/2 cup skim milk my go to smoothie.

I'm only here because I thought it would be collies
![]() But, while I'm here...I did do smoothies quite a bit my sophomore year of college. I used whatever was cheap - usually that was zucchini and/or yellow squash. Add a handful of berries, maybe a banana, some ice, and a splash of milk and you have a smoothie. Berries and bananas are incredibly good at covering up other flavors. I don't do smoothies anymore because I don't have easy access to a blender, and most of them are higher carb than I care to eat (if I'm going to put effort into making something healthy, I'm going to make it low carb, even though I'm not doing keto at the moment).

My dad is really big into juicing things lol. Which I guess is different from a smoothie but if he makes a batch big enough, most of the time he considers that his meal.
It is a good way to get veggies in though, I DO NOT eat vegetables because I think they're all disgusting, but the fruit hides the flavor well enough that if you throw in a few carrots, it's not noticeable. And it's just a way easier way to consume fruits/veggies, rather than having to actually nom on them.

The VitaMix is my co-favorite kitchen machine, along with the KitchenAid Pro model mixer.
Love throwing stuff in it and drinking meals for a couple or three days, but can't do it on a daily or semi-daily type basis because the calories and carbs put weight on me like crazy. Meat smoothies just don't seem terribly appealing, lol!www.rawfamily.com has some good recipes.

You can make your own gluten free flour with it! You can use a good food processor to make flour too, but the VitaMix does a better job.

I've done a few, I bought protein powder because I don't eat enough protein so protein smoothies were an idea. But realistically I think I've only made a smoothie like three times LOL.
I should though! I'm always low on calories for the day anyway. Maybe I need to start drinking one a day.
