Are you worried about the puppy or the Border Collie? A new puppy is more accepting to a dog already in residence so that probably won't be an issue. On the the other hand the resident dog might display some jealousy. To help stem show him he's still top dog by such things as first to get pet , fed, etc.

I would introduce the dogs if possible off property, even a neighbors yard. This way the pup isn't entering into your dog's home. If not possible, introduce slowly and see how your dog reacts. Just be patient and go slowly.

Introducing a new pup or dog into a household with dogs is crucial. You should do that in such a way that there will be no jealousy among them. Show to them that they are treated equally.
