Default Pilates, Yoga or ??

So, I want to get some kind of workout DVD to do on the days that I'm not running.

When I was at the UofM I had Rodney Yee's Yoga for Beginners. I don't know if it's normal or if I'm just not a yoga person, but I couldn't relax while doing yoga, I was just impatient to be done with each exercise

So I'm thinking of maybe trying pilates this time instead?

Anyone have any good beginner pilates DVD recommendations? Or other workout routine recommendations? I refuse to do the insanity workouts because I don't want to DIE. lol

ETA: I'm mainly looking for something that will be a nice core workout.

Renee recommended this dvd: Tribal Fusion - Yoga Isolations & Drills for Bellydance in a different thread and I love it. The yoga bits are boring (but they do stretch you out) and the drills are interesting and fun. And I am incredibly uncoordinated and not really belly dancing material lol.

I was going to say . . . Glad you're liking it!

I LOVE RODNEY YEE. But all I have is his Power Yoga stuff. I don't necessarily feel "relaxed" while I do his yoga stuff until the very end which is when you actually stop moving for a few seconds haha.

I bought these two after much recommendation by other runners:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044CM7YC/ - this has the three programs on it but I've only ever done the Conditioning for Athletes one. I LOVE it. It definitely worked muscles I needed for running. He shows you two variations in it too, one for people who need more flexibility and one for people who need more strength. I only did this once a week. My long runs were usually on Saturday so I did this Sunday night.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062DKO0/ - this one I did a LOT. Definitely the nights after I ran, sometimes if I just felt a little stiff or sore I would do it on a rest night too. I've actually considered ripping the audio off this and putting it on my MP3 player so I can just listen to it and do the poses even when I'm not somewhere with a DVD player or my laptop. Some people don't like it because he moves you through the poses pretty quickly but that's what Power Yoga IS.

Personally my biggest problem with pilates and yoga DVDs is that they tell you to contort your body into ways you're not used to doing, so you're sitting there all twisted up and are concentrating on trying to get the pose right, and then they keep telling you REMEMBER TO BREATHE and I just wanted to scream at the TV. The reason I love these DVDs so much is he tells you "inhale into this pose, exhale and move this leg here, inhale and do this" - which is what Power Yoga is all about. You synchronize your breathing with your movements. Everything flows, it's almost constant. You do hold poses sometimes and he gives you a very gentle "breathe" or "breathe easy" instead of the chirping "remember to breathe!!!" that makes me want to punch other yoga instructors in the face.

As for other DVDs, I have heard fabulous things about Jillian Michaels DVDs. I have one but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. But IMO the most important thing is to find something you'll enjoy and that you'll actually do. I used to have cardio dance tapes because they were FUN. It won't do you any good to buy DVDs that you don't like so you just won't do 'em.

HAHAHAHA! We did Doga once. ONCE. My old trainer was an instructor. Someone probably should have taped it, just for lulz. After that I gave up on including Frodo in my exercise routines

I love the idea of Zumba, just not to sure the people in the apartment below me would be as excited about it
