Must be regional accents... Here it's more chip-oat-lay. Basically the same, just a slight difference in the beginning. LOL.

I say it like this, but I break up the syllables like chi-poat-lay. But definitely an i sound like in "chip," vs ee.

That's how a lot of people say it if they're trying to sound it out. Sometimes my friends and I will call it that in jest. We purposely mispronounce a lot of things though, it's funny.
