We crate trained our puppy Arcata and he seemed to respond to it very well. First we got him used to the crate by putting him in it everytime after he goes outside. After he was quiet for even a couple seconds we would let him out. At night we would kennel him and he would whine but we would give him treats. Then after about a month of this we would leave him in the bathroom when we left to go to the store or something. We put a baby gate up and put the kennel in the bathroom hoping that he would sleep in it. We left the kennel in the living room and before long he started to play in it. Its a small kennel because when we got our puppy he was only 2 months old so we got him a small crate. He loves it. I think its because he knows that its his area. Now at night we just leave the kennel open and has his bed beside it. These are just a few tips that I got from going to dog obedience classes. Hope everything works out. How old is your dog?

well, michelle, I am actually referring to carting not crating. Thanks for your advice anyway. :)

I have a husky and I'm living in Singapore. there's nobody to teach me how to cart and there's no where i can buy the equipments unless i import. (cos nobody has done dog carting in singapore) so i'm trying to figure out how i can do it over here. i love the idea of carting so trying to get some tips from someone who has done carting before. i have searched the internet but there's always limited info i can get.

Here you go, Berry. I ran a search in Google (out of CompuServe) with the term Dog cart and got several pages. I pulled out several for you that looked like they should be most helpful. One of them has plans to build a dog cart out of PVC.

Keep us informed on your progress. I think this is fascinating!
