I found a very sweet corgi mix running around my neighborhood. She was a little wary, but warmed up to me quickly. No collar/tags so I drove her to my vet to be scanned, but no chip either :(

It would have been very inconvenient to keep her at home, so they suggested I take her to the Animal Defense League (no kill shelter). So I drive her over there, and they don't accept animals on the weekend because they don't have a vet there. So at that point I decide I'm just going to take her home and keep her in the backyard for the night, and walk the neighborhood with her tomorrow to see if anyone recognized her. I put her in the yard and went inside to rest for a few minutes, then grabbed my camera to take pictures and some food/water for her. I got into my yard and she was gone. I must not have latched the gate properly because she somehow got it open. I walked up and down the street looking for her but she was nowhere to be seen. I went ahead and posted about her on Craigslist in hopes that someone is looking for her to at least give them a clue as to her whereabouts, but I feel just awful for not making sure the gate was secure. She seemed reasonably well cared for, although she had a growth on one of her toes and she was not spayed. Such a sweet friendly dog, I really hope she found her way home instead of out onto a busy street :(

My mom just called, the poodles were at the groomer today... the groomer called and said it looks like Bella has some kind of bite wound on her foot and she thinks there may be an infection moving up the leg... I dont know how she knows all of this but she is a very holistic person and does most of her own vet care at home.

We have no idea how/where this could have happened... my mom is on her way to pick them up and talk to the groomer more, so she will know more once she gets there.

She also thinks she has an ear infection.

Poor little Bella please send vibes that all is okay... I will talk to my mom more later and see what is going on.

Ugh, I just left Oakley for his "interview" at doggie day care...he gets to go free all day, so I figured I'd take advantage & leave him there...

He hates it so much though...I brought him in & forgot some paperwork in my car, so I handed his leash to the nice lady to go run & grab it...when I come back (like 10 secs later) Oakley is like pulling the poor woman, whining & freaking out cause I left him :(

She then showed me around...the place is alright... i didn't have much choice cause EVERYTHING was booked over thanksgiving (I only very recently found out I had to board him)...so its gonna have to do...

We left him in the play area to discuss his paperwork & I could hear him scratching & barking at the door the whole time...I'm pretty sure the woman thought I was crazy cause I was like telling her every detail about him & exactly how to handle him, blah blah....

Ugh, Now i can't do work like I planned cause I am just so worried about him!!! I feel like a horrible mom.

I figured out what is wrong with Summer, I found blood all over my apartment. Apparently she cut her pad. I've got her taken care of, but I don't know what's going on with Mia. She's been limping for about an hour. Back right and she's not putting much weight on it. Of course my first thought is to freak out and think patellar luxation but I've watched videos and it doesn't look like that. It's never happened before and I didn't see what happened. she was fine, I gave her a bath, blowdried her and when I let her go, she was limping. She can still jump on the couch and is still using her foot to scratch, but when she is walking she'll avoid putting full weight on it. When she stands she holds it up off the ground and when she's walking she'll put it down but not all the way...

My poor puppies. :(

Whenever I bathe Mia and pick her up to get her out of the tub, she will start doing 'air doggy-paddling' like she's swimming. If you hold her over the tub, she will start 'swimming' in your hands. It's SO weird. Rose does it too but the others don't Rose is a little less enthusiastic and just barely paddles with her front feet but Mia goes into full blown air swimming.
But at least this time someone's put a funny spin on it. A friend sent me this cartoon and ever since I've been trying to circulate it all over the place, on my Facebook page, to all my Yahoo email lists, and now here at Dog Star Daily. Yes, this tiny, little cartoon in 4 quick frames illustrates the simplest of concepts of what can happen when you try to dominate another being that just doesn't want to be dominated, for whatever reason. Enough said.

When do teeth usually stop coming in? She's 7 months old, but it's been about a months since she grew the other tooth.

I mean... doesn't matter as it's not affecting her and she's not a show dog but I should probably tell her breeder she has a funky tooth, don't you think?
