Well, I know we have some ferret lovers on this forum so I figured I would introduce and share some pictures of my six

Sasha, is my 4 year old, very petite only female. I've had her the longest and she was my 2nd ferret. She's a princess who wants her way when she wants it. When they all get some raw she gets first dibs and will carry it around hissing at any of the boys who think they can take it from her. She sleeps only on pillows and beds (my bed). She beats up the boys and puts them in their place, like any good female should do

This is Linus, he's my BIG 3 year old deaf boy. At least in winter he's huge. He about doubles in size for winter and I could swear that's it happens over night. He's an absolute sweetheart, as any fat ferret should be. He's perfectly content to lay in my arms and be cuddled (the only one of my ferrets that will put up with it). But as much as I love him he would be the first one eaten at the watering hole

This is Spike. He's 3 years old and evil. He's my special ferret. I honestly think their is something off about him. He doesn't quite know how to be a ferret. Doesn't know how to play with them and is loner. And he likes to bite, but he always goes for the kill, always. And the way he bites is different than the nippers I've worked with and have. It's like a need to bite.

Despite all this he hold a special place in my heart. I've had to work a lot with him because of his oddness. and he has the softest coat of all of the.

This is Marty, my 4 year old nipper. He's a sweet boy who was named after the M on his forehead. He's slightly insane and seems to like sleeping in the middle of floors, purposely where I'm going to walk.

This is Loon and he's also 3 years old. I got him the same day as Spike and so they've grown up together. He's a master speedbump and only a little bit smaller than Linus is in the winter and bigger than him in the summer. He got his name from the dark Burgundy color of his eyes, like a Loons (the bird).

His favorite thing is when I'm flipping a blanket back and forth and chasing the vacuum.

And last but not least there is Phil, my oldest ferret at 7 years old. He's an old man but still finds time to jump around chasing blankets and run threw tubes with the best of them

He gives kisses and will give kisses until you stop him which just melts me every time.

Sasha

Spike

Linus

Marty

Sooo, I know that a couple people on here have ferrets, and I need to know everything there is to know.

I have got a couple questions too.

1. How much do they smell? I can stand it, but my parents don't like it.

2. Is it possible to keep them outside? We live in Florida, so it doesn't get cold but it does get hot.

3. In fact, our house gets hot because we don't turn on the air all the time. It has gotten to the 90s before we turned the air on.

4. How is their interaction with dogs and cats?

5. How easy is it to just let them roam around, in a safe room?

6. How hard is it to make a room "ferret safe"

7. About how much would it cost yearly to upkeep them?

8. How easy is it to litter train them?

9. Is it possible to litter train them about their pee and their poop?

10. Is it okay to only have one ferret?

And, I think that is it. Thanks for your time anyone who censers, and be brutal. I want to know if it would be feasible for me and my family AND the ferret. I want to know everything I possibly can know.

He got an antibiotic shot and we're keeping it clean with betadine. It's already much, much smaller. (it had already popped...which is just gross)

Pretty good though, I've had cats since I was four and this was my first ever abscess:p

Next thing I know, Whitacre (cat) is sitting next to me, looking nonchalant. When he thinks I'm not looking, he picks up the dog treat, and walks away with it as if nothing were out of the ordinary.

Of course, since it wasn't exactly a small treat, Whitacre couldn't figure out how to eat the dang thing, so he just drooled all over it, rolled on it, and left it in the middle of the floor.

But don't worry. Morgan took care of it a few minutes later. :p

JessLough and I took our ferrets today to get their annual ADV test. ADV is an autoimmune, contagious ferret illness, and so, before their bi-annual ferret frolics, the local ferret rescue holds this ADV test. The kids have to get a nail clipped at the quick for the blood test.

Our three all took them like troopers, though poor little Palom was too laid back to bleed (they need to be mildly stressed to get enough blood pressure to bleed through the nail) so he got quicked four times. :( He was fine though, doses of ferretone in between helped!

Anyways, post-test, we took them to the playground behind the community centre where the clinic was, so they could have some fun and dig.

Rascal goes down the slide! Wheeee!

Rascal and Porom tagteam-digging.

Hanging out with some of the coordinator's ferrets!

One day, I want a really dark ferret like the fellow in these pics.

Palom agrees, dark ferrets make nice kissyface.

By request (one which I am ALWAYS happy to oblige - LOVE taking and posting pics of my kitties!). : )

I have five cats, all ex-ferals. Allen, Rachel and Meghan are three-year-old siblings, and Spencer and Heather are only a year old and also siblings. As you'll see from the pics, the younger two were both older and quite skittish when I trapped them.

I no longer foster kittens because I clearly have issues letting them go. *chuckle*

Allen and his sisters lost their other brother, Ollie, in the 2007 pet food poisoning. Since then, I've been obsessed with feline nutrition and am now a member of the Feline Nutrition Education Society. My cats now eat only fresh, raw frankeprey and whole prey products.

Here are my beloved furfaces:

Allen (my best friend and a total lover - he drools when I pet him) as a kitten through today (literally!)

Did I ever mention how much I hate irresponsibility? Well I do! Today my sisters friend got some free kittens from Auction and brought them home without their parents knowing. Long story short the parents said NO. So they were over here talking about sneaking them inside and hiding them from their dad. WHAT?!?!?! Well I told them I would take one of the kittens, I now have a very scared little orange and white kitten with no name. It's a male. They have the other one still which, they're trying to talk their grandmother into taking. The kittens were barn kitties so I imagine it will take a while for him to settle in with the dogs and all.

Right now he is sitting on my uncles shoulder right now, he seems to feel comfortable up higher and away from the furry crew. I will get pictures as soon as I can. I do need help with names though! If anyone has any ideas. He is orange with a white chest and broken white legs, some white on his nose and around the eyes. He's a real spitfire and has already swatted cricket on the nose.

ETA: I just realized, he doesn't really have much of a tail...just a little nub!

He's such a great kitten and even though he's hitting his "I'm a big independent cat" stage he still really likes to be around people

It's been fun because he's been on at least half whole prey (mostly mice) since we got him and the other part of the time he's getting nature's variety raw and some canned food. He does have dry available all the time since he's a growing boy but he much prefers his mice.

....actually that's all he would like to eat thank you very much and will turn up his nose at anything less if he thinks he can get away with it

His name his Hamish and here he is at 9-10 weeks old

Is it alright to feed cats bones? I always fed my dogs those raw "pet bones" (that's what they're labeled as) that they carry in the grocery store once or twice a week as a treat. Would they (the smaller ones, of course) be alright to feed to my cat? Her teeth are kind of gross, and she HATES having her teeth brushed, I thought that it would help her teeth?

I also have a basted/smoked bone that I had bought for a friend's dog (I was pet-sitting) before she told me that he couldn't have it, as they give him really bad diarrhea. Would that be okay to feed to her, or not?

Thanks!
