what i did with yoshi was i'd start playing with her until she got really excited and then i'd start saying 'bark' kinda of loud and sharp while playing with her and she'd start barking back. eventually she just started to bark whenever i say bark. you could try that.

You have to find something that makes them bark. Whether it be a noise, or food, whatever.....the only way I taught dogs to speak was to do something that made them bark like yoko said. My pup won't speak either. She's the quiet type.

My male will speak. I used to be able to talk to him in a funny voice as a pup and he would barn...I;d say speak and give him a treat. He learned it.

hello im a newbie but im training to be a dog trainier and ill tell you the way i taught my dog if you find yor dogs fav toy and hold it up so your dog cant get it. hold it up for a while and just basicly tease the dog a little and he will eventually bark at it to try and get it down when your dog barks reward and the after a few times slowley put the command to it. and soo your dog will pick it up when you do the hand signal i also know heaps of tricks i taught my dog.
