I need help with house manners

my dog is an house dog, but he in my room all the time. because if he goes downstairs because he can't calm down. if I don't have him on a leash and holding on to it he will run around and he won't listen. and he knows sit, down, stay, come. the basic, but he won't listen to them when he downstairs. we have 1 german shepherd. and 3 Chihuahua. and that why he can't calm down because he won't to play. I know lab are active dogs

but when I take my lab (neko) and my german shepherd for a walk at the same time he dose not try to play with her. he just walk by her calmly.


I don't understand that can you help me. he is 1year and 4 mouth, and he is fixed, and I take him for a 1 hour walk every day.

Do you give him any exercise other than walking? Like do you play games with him and stuff to keep him occupied and work his mind?

I teach him alot of different tricks, and I play fetch but I play like 10 min and he will walk away from the ball.

Well, it sounds like you're doing well by working on obedience commands and such. Playing with him is great. I am guessing he needs to have a little more romping and exercise to get the ants out of his pants. A tired dog is a good dog. LOL. Puppies are like this and they take time to grow out of it. Let him be a puppy while at the same time, teach him his manners and skills with patience and persistance. Make training sessions fun and not too serious. Be sure and praise him whenever you see behavior you like. Show him what you like and reward and praise. Show him what you don't like by ending all the fun and attention...even if you have to seperate him from you for a while. That really is a pretty awful outcome for the pup, to lose your companionship. You don't have to ostrasize him for long....10-15 minutes. Give him alternatives to do for an outlet and tire him out a little more. Have you tried a Kong stuffed with peanut butter and frozen overnight? They love that and it can occupy him when you're spent. LOL.

thsank you very much, and yes I tryed the kong he won't touch it if it has peanut butter, and if I put treats in it he play with it for 5 min and walks away from it.

You're welcome. Maybe two shorter walks and lots of romping in the yard inbeween would be better. Kind of space out the exercise sessions. Keep going with the obedience practice. Find whatever it is that he likes and use it to your advantage. He'll grow up and calm down eventually with your good handling. Try to teach him to retrieve. Sometimes you really have to show them at first. Throw a ball, get excited and just throw it a short distance. See if he'll pick it up and bring it to you or meet him half way at first. Treat and praise him. He just sounds like he needs to get motivated. Find out what floats his boat. Good luck.

thank you and he dose know how to retrieve, but sometime he won't bring it back i'm working on that.

It's a viscious circle. The problem is that he needs to spend time with the other dogs to get used to it, and stop being hyper with them. Otherwise yeah, as soon as he sees them he will be very excited, because it's unusual for him.

At this age a lab needs more room to play. He probably doesn't have enough excercise and activity so he gets all hyper when he sees other dogs. Is there any reason why he doesn't go with the other dogs? With 4 dogs I'm sure they play with each other too.

You can try tiring him out with a long walk, then let him with the other dogs. If he's tired, he won't be as crazy.

will the 3 Chihuahua he can't play with because they don't like him. and the german shepherd he play with but not for long because she dose not play much. which I think is weird because her only 9 mouth and she dose not play very much.
